Blog Status

Still outside of the country for the time being and will not be able to really post anything about fishing until I get back.  On a much sadder note, my laptop craped out on me, which proves my not voting for Carly was justified.

Is Ben Shapiro Acting Like A Hypocrite?

The reality of the situation is simple to understand.  Ben Shapiro is a fraud and for the most part, a hypocrite.  Shapiro’s hypocrisy has now finally come full circle with his criticism of the Trump Campaign hiring on Stephen Bannon of Breitbart News.

Now Ben talks a good bit on how horrible a person Stephen is while conveniently forgetting the fact that he had no problems with this man from 2012 up until the middle of the 2016 Republican Primaries.  He would later go on making a rather big noise of “quitting” Breitbart during the whole Michelle Fields kerfuffle, turning his energies full time to the new website he founded back in 2015:  www.Dailwire.com

One of the things that raised Shapiro’s ire, saying, in words pretty much to the effect, that Bannon took Mercer for a “ride.” by ". . .manipulated Breitbart News into a Cruz-bashing Trump propaganda outlet."   Rather harsh words coming from someone doing the SAME DAMNED THING at the website he currently edits, only with the politicians reversed.

Robert Mercer, one of the major investors of Breitbart, gave 11 million dollars to  KEEP THE PROMISE I super PAC.  Apparently the integrity of the Fourth Estate is of little concern for Shapiro as he accuses Bannon of shilling for Trump, yet he has been doing the same thing for almost a year straight and is upset Bannon didn't go along with Mercer's wishes.

Now this is where the hypocrisy come into full view, and why anything said by Shapiro should be discounted as paid-for propaganda.  Dailywire.com is owned by Forward Publishing LLC of Cisco TX .  This company happens to be part of the Wilks Bros. business empire. (I reported on this earlier.)

You may remember the Wilks as being the Texas oil billionaires who made the rather huge donation of 15 million dollars to KEEP THE PROMISE III (now called REIGNITING THE PROMISE) , a part of the Keep The Promise network of soft money Ted Cruz super PAC’s run by Glenn Beck’s business partner David Barton.

If the owner of The New York Times gave millions to Hillary, every right-winger in the country would scream  foul play!  Yet when Shapiro employer does it for the benefit of Ted Cruz, then all is well in the land of Conservative Punditry.

Now the most insufferable thing about this whole rotten scenario is that Shapiro, or Beck for that matter, has never come clean to their audience about these massive conflicts of interest. These people are either working for or with mega donors.

Noted historian William I. Shirer, in his book “The Collapse of the Third Republic,” noted that Nazi Germany did not have to spend much money buying off French politicians before the war.   The Germans testified that it was much more effective to buy off journalists.  What we are seeing is something very similar happening to us right now.

Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause is the literal definition of Propaganda.  Everything Ben Shapiro once accused Jon Stewart of doing now he stands just as guilty, if not more so.  This failure of Shapiro to disclose such information while presenting himself as a journalist grounded in principle is HYPOCRISY.

Shapiro has no moral leg to stand on.

This man is a fraud.

Author's Note:  I would like to apologize to anybody still left in cyberspace who actually reads this damned thing.  I am currently outside of the country and will not be back for several months.

Why Republicans will never end Abortion

To truly understand Abortion in American Politics, you must understand what is a Wedge Issue

A Wedge Issue is really a simple concept.  It is simply something that corrupt political parties use to drive voters to the polls and to squeeze money out of it's members.  I first became aware of this when I, in one of the dumbest acts possible, subscribed to the National Review.

For some crazy reason everybody and their brother with some sort of charity or "Conservative Narrative" to sell was clogging my poor little mailbox with their solicitations.  (NR went and sold my address. Just another reason for that rag to die.)  Most notably was the Republican Party and it endless series of "Voter Surveys."

You might of seen these darn things. So serious looking.  Asking for you valued opinion (and $15 for processing) so the Party can better respond to the needs of the electorate.  After a while I realized what was going on.

THE WHOLE THING WAS A SCAM AND THEY DON'T GIVE A RAT'S AS ABOUT MY OPINION. THEY ONLY WANT MY MONEY!

To which I properly responded:

That's the story with a lot of these things.  It's nothing more then a scam.  The Jerks in DC know that all they have to do is whip up the old Abortion, 2nd Amendment, IRS, or Benghazi drum and us clods who know no better will pull the right lever in November.  Democrats do this as well.  It's one of the reasons for such Partisan Gridlock, both sides make a shit-ton of money using the issue de jour in contributions.

All of this brings us to Abortion.  Republican Leadership will do absolutely NOTHING to stop the murder of unborn children.  Raul Ryan has been pulling the heart string of the American People for years while at the same time doing everything he can to make sure Planned Parenthood gets all the taxpayer dough it wants.  Just look at the Omnibus if you don't believe me. Check out how the GOP funds the murder of children.

All of this bring me to the issue of Abortion and the Wisconsin Primary.  After a little digging from your's truly, I had discovered that the Wisconsin Right To Life Victory Fund is only four days old.

If you take a look at the FEC Expenditure reports, you will find that it is nothing more then pro Ted Cruz puff pieces.  That this "organisation" has had most of it's funding deriving from OUTSIDE Wisconsin!  All of it's expenditures, since it's founding 3 days ago, have been expressly for the support of Ted Cruz despite all three candidates being Pro-Life.

Talk about Astro-Turf!

(It should also be noted that this "organisation" never said anything about Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney.  Both of whom respectfully used taxpayer money to fund the murder of children i.e. Planned Parenthood.)

Did Andrew Klavan lie about Donald Trump?

Now a lot of you may know that Fascism is bad.  Hell, even I, the uneducated dolt that I is, am willing to agree with anybody on that.  Since it is such an evil stain on human history, calling someone a fascist or an anti-semite who really isn't should be regarded as one of the lowest of the lowest smears in modern politics.

This brings us to noted author and Dailywire columnist Andrew Klavan.  A couple of weeks ago Andy went and tweeted an image of Donald Trump right next to a picture of Il Duce, the inventor of Fascism and dictator of Italy during the Second World War.
The attempt here is obvious and it's message is clear: "Donald Trump is a Fascist Dictator."  However there is one slight problem with this little narrative Mr. Klavan is trying to instill.  The picture of Donald Trump was taken while he was Grand Marshal of the 2004 Israeli Appreciation Parade in New York City.

Here is an uncropped picture:

Now we have already established that the website Andy works for (in the words of a real news professional,  Mr. Charles C. Johnson) is nothing more then a Ted Cruz Pravda pipe organ.  (Pravda being the official newspaper of the Kremlin.)

I guess when the people who sign the front of your paycheck give 15 million dollars to Ted Cruz, all other competition for the GOP Nomination now looks like Hitler.  I never knew "Principled Conservatism" came with a price tag.

( I would like to apologize for the lack of post lately.  This is not my full time job and the thing that really puts worthless fiat currency in the ye olde wallet take up a good 12-14 hours of my day.  I would also like to thank Charles Johnson for the hat tip at his website Gotnews.com)

Fishing In Deferiet, NY

Today actually started out quite nice.  After stopping at the Steward's in Great Bend for a cup of coffee, I turned onto Highway 3 and traveled north until I got to the tiny village of Deferiet, New York.  Turning left on Riverside Drive, I proceed past the small Catholic Church until I got to the Public Access boat launch which sits right behind the Water Treatment Plant.

It was a little bit cold today (high of 33) and I decided that I would just fish off of the river bank instead of taking to the water.  Which was a wise decision since the river was ice cold.
Red Dot - Where I was at
My whole goal was to try and snag a few yellow perch.  Perch are open all year (bag limit in NY is 50) and was one of the first fish I caught up here in NY.  Perch start to spawn in the April-May time frame, and since it was just a short winter, I figured there might be some out there.  It turned out I was wrong.
Now the town of Deferiet can be described as an artificial island.  South of the town there sits a hydroelectric station and an overflow canal which diverts part of the river.  The red dot on the picture is where the canal runs back into the river.  My thinking was that where these two meet would be a great place to try a river rig with a floating jig setup.  Alittle later on in the year, this would have worked wonders, but I think it was still too early.
One Last Note

Neptune was not willing to give up his bounty this day. (Is Neptune in charge of Fresh water rivers as well? Seems like a job he'd give his no-good brother-in-law or something.)  However it wasn't a complete loss.  When I stopped at the Steward's Gas Station to pick up lunch/dinner after my little expedition, turns out they had Bush Light on sale for $3.99 a sixer!

If you ever decide to fish the Black River, make sure to use a snag free set up.  This river is lousy with large rocks and sunken logs.  It wasn't too bad this year since all the heavy river flow cleared out most of the crap, but last year was terrible! I must have lost 15 bucks worth of tackle in there.

Cucking For Dollars

Well it looks like a lot of things has happened this week.  So let's take a quick review.

#NeverTrump
Erick Erickson continues with his #NeverTrump nonsense.  This shouldn't really surprise anybody who has mildly followed Mr. Erickson on both the radio and when he was CEO of Redstate.com.

Now back when I discovered that Ben Shapiro's employers gave 15 million dollars to a Cruz Super PAC, a rather interesting thought came into my mind.  What if Shapiro is not the only one?  What if most of what we see as "Conservative News/Commentary" is nothing more than paid for political  advertisement  masquerading  as online journalism?

This looks to be the case when you take a look at the website TheResurgent.com in which Erickson makes the case for a third party if Donald Trump wins the nomination.  This happens to be one of the most stupidest things ever uttered by a self proclaimed Republican to date, and that includes everything said by Lindsey Graham!   Now the interesting thing about Erickson's article is when you scroll down to the very bottom of the the page and find this:

Cucks Means Big  Bucks
A nice little SRG Logo. After a little bit of digging (I clicked on the link.) I found that SRG stands for Stoneridge Group, a "political consultant" firm based out of Georgia (with an office in Lexington KY) that specializes in helping candidates sell their message to the rubes I mean people through "digital campaigns."  What type of digital marketing?  No one rightly knows.

Just think of it like this:

What would a group, whose very business model depends on massive amounts of  cash being spent during an election cycle, feel about a guy who shows up, rewrites all the rules, spend practically nothing and has the biggest vote/delegate lead so far?

I'm guessing not to happy about it.  Hence the #NeverTrump campaign.

One Last Note
I will be fishing tomorrow on the Black River just south of Carthage, New York.  So look forward to that article, which should be posted sometime late tomorrow.

Was Ben Shapiro Fired From Breitbart News?

I originally set this up as a fishing blog, detailing my adventures up here in Northern New York. However one of the other purposes for this site was to allow for some commentary on things going on in the world. One of those things being my disgust for journalistic corruption.

The latest reports are that Ben Shapiro and Michelle Fields have went and terminated their employment with Breitbart News. This does not really come as a shock to me. Mr. Shapiro's volume of work over at Breitbart has been decreasing steadily ever since he got the job as Editor over at Dailywire.com. Miss Fields is famous for falsely accusing a man of sexual assault.

A small part of me kind of wonders if I may have had some part in this happening. As you will no doubt find out, it was this website that first broke the story of Ben Shapiro's conflict of interest. That  his employers at Daily Wire's website, the Wilks Brothers, funded a Ted Cruz Super PAC to the tune of 15 million dollars*.

Now if Ben was working directly for Keep The Promise, the Super PAC that got the 15 mil, then naturally I would not have any problem with his anti-Trump diatribes. After all that would be the same as being pissed at Billy Mays for pushing OxyClean. It's your job, I get that.  The thing is that Billy never tried to hide the fact that he was trying to sell you laundry soap.

What really upsets me is when someone tries to sell a product (politics can be considered a product if you think about it) all the while masquerading as "opinionated journalism." As I said before it is the same equivalent as Consumer Reports buying a crap ton of GM stock and then telling people that the one car that doesn't suck is a Chevy.

Such actions are outright dishonest.  Even if the Dailywire website carried a small banner on the bottom stating who the owners financially supported, then I would have been OK with it,  but to lie through omission?  That cannot be accepted.

Which brings us to Ben Shapiro and Michelle Fields resigning over the whole Corey Lewandowski incident in Florida.  I seriously doubt that Mr. Shapiro and Miss Fields quit their jobs because of some moral commitment to the truth.  If that were the case then Mr. Shapiro would have fully disclosed to his audience that his new employers gave 15 million dollars to a political candidate.

It is my belief that (and I will write more on this later) the whole narrative of what they claimed to have happened will in fact fall apart like a pair of $5 sneakers.  Although it looks like Gateway Pundit beat me to it:

If #GamerGate has taught us anything it is this: The truth will out.

*You can find this under "Ben Shapiro And The Anti Trump Crowd" which now has 8,556 views so far.  I actually contacted Breitbart News a few days ago through their tip line and asked them if they were aware of this.  As of now I have not received a response.

The Black River - Dexter New York

This being my day off from work and not having anything important or vital that needed to be done, I decided to go fishing out at Dexter, New York.  I mostly wanted to get outside and experience the warm sun and above freezing temperatures that we in the North Country have been blessed with these last few days.  Aftera quick stop at the Wal-Mart in Felt Mills to load up on much needed supplies (two cans of worms and a ham sandwich) I was on my way.

The one thing anybody will notice if they decided to drive into Dexter from Interstate 81 is that the bridge going into Dexter is still under construction.  Now this damned bridge has been "Under Construction" since my employer took me to New York and that was back in July of 2014.  Only one lane is open, last year it was the right side now it's the left, so you have to sit and wait for the light to change in order to drive across.  It's a bit frustrating, but I am pretty sure NYDOT will be working on that damned thing when I leave and that shouldn't be for another two years.

The weather was nice, bright, and sunny, with gusts of wind coming in from the south.  Not bad if you have a jacket.  Already the local New Yorkers were taking their boats out to the ramp.  Fat lot of good it did them.  The rain we had for the past few days and the effects of all the melting snow had caused the Black River to really swell with a muddy brownness that most likely came from all the sand that was washed off the roadways.  The river current is normally strong but for the most part clear, the bottom is mostly large rock.  Now it looked like something you would find in Louisiana.

I set up my little spot on Fisherman Island Park just above the dam.  The current wasn't too bad and there was not a lot of underbrush preventing access.  The sun was warm on my face and I enjoyed listening to a repeat of  Rush Limbaugh's Friday Broadcast on 790 WTNY.

While Bobby Likis was singing the great benefits of ethanol, I set about the task of trying to catch some fish. Using a size 6 hook with a good 10 inches of 8-lbs test for a leader and one of my trusty egg sinkers, I set my first rod up for a bottom feeder rig and casted off a good 25 feet from shore. The second rod I used a fairly simple river rig; consisting of 12-lbs test, floating jig and a 3-way swivel. You can use this set up for trolling for for river fishing, the idea being to keep the bait off of the bottom. A good float jig is recommended.

As for the fishing itself?  Completely unproductive.  A passerby made the comment that he managed to get a few pickrell last Wednesday when it was still raining.  I told him that was my damned luck, the fish only bite when I'm at work.  Although I will say this, I did manage to catch a log.

Ben Shapiro and The Anti Trump Crowd

I used to like Ben a lot, but now I don't. At first I thought his Anti-Trump stance has slipped form principled opposition to outright obsession. I remember reading his articles during the 2008 and the 2012 Primaries where he pretty much landed in the NONE OF THE ABOVE Camp.  Which I thought of at the time as a bit odd, but some people have really picky tastes.  I've always been more of a 7/10 IS GOOD ENOUGH Man.
Now things are different.
Now Mr. Shapiro has a horse by the name of Ted Cruz that he is going to back 1000%.
Now Conservatives are going to win the White House.
Now Conservatives will restore the Constitution and right the Great Ship of State.
Now this time we are going to do it!
Now I have learned that there maybe  more of a financial motive to all of this.
Ben Shapiro not only holds down the job of Editor at Large for Breitbart News, but he also is a featured writer and podcaster for DailyWire.com  I was screwing around on the website when I came across the TERMS OF USE page since I was thinking about signing up for the Subscription Service.  I scrolled down the page and came across this:
Forward Publishing
ATTN: Customer Service
PO Box 1644
Cisco Tx 76437
Why the heck is a guy who lives in Los Angeles working for a company based out of a Dallas Suburb?  So I decided to do quick search for Forward Publishing LLC and see what comes up.
Further research had shown that the owners of this company is none other then the Wilks Brothers.  Levi Wilks is listed as the Manager of Forward Publishing and has ties to 7 Pillar Records LLC.  In turn 7 Pillar is run by a fellow named Farris Wilks.  Farris is famous for being a real Texas Success Story, going from Brick Layer to Oil and Gas Tycoon to Church Preacher.
These are the very same Texas Billionaires who gave an impressive $15 million to a Ted Cruz Super PAC. Why haven't we been told about this?  This looks like if The Times invested a lot of money into GM and then ran articles about how the only car that doesn't suck is a Chevy.
Ben is a really smart man and I do not want to accuse him of fraud. All I would like to know is whether or not Ben knew about this and how much did this influence his commentary. A Cynic that lives deep inside me (right next to the gall bladder) tells me that this does explain why he has been so hyper critical of Trump or anyone else for that matter and has repeatedly glossed over the mistakes of Ted Cruz.  I really don't want to believe him but I don't want to be a sucker either.
